How much does saunagus cost in Copenhagen?

Vintage navy-ink engraving on aged parchment: a hand holds out a small punched multi-visit card with round holes in it, and a single dashed curve carrying arrowheads sweeps from the card towards an open sauna door with a bench visible inside. Bottom left, a wooden bucket of sauna stones with a ladle and three curls of steam. Bottom right, two small figures sit with their backs to us on a bench.

What saunagus costs in Copenhagen depends on which ticket you buy. Our pricing page shows the available standard single session, multi-session cards and gift cards. Current prices appear below when available.

That is half the answer. The other half is what you are actually paying for, which tickets exist, and what moves the number.

What you are paying for

Time in a dark, hot room with a gusmester working. That sounds simple. It is not. Someone heats the room, mixes the oils, picks the music, pours water on the stones, and then moves that heat around with a towel so it lands on the bench where you are sitting instead of hanging up under the ceiling.

Scent reaches you before anything else happens. The heat arrives a moment later, in waves, and it only goes where the gusmester sends it. Every round is swung and measured by a person standing up in the hottest part of the room while you sit down. Between rounds you step out, cool off, and go back in.

Then there is the part that appears on no receipt: the time afterwards. Wet hair, cold air, nobody saying much. Plenty of people tell us that is the whole reason they booked.

You are also paying for a place that is looked after: showers, changing rooms with lockers, a cold plunge we treat with chlorine, water at the tap. The rest of the practical detail lives in our FAQ.

The tickets you can choose between

A single session. One visit, one ticket. If you have never tried saunagus, buy this one and nothing else.

A multi-session card, a klippekort. You buy several visits at once, and the price per visit drops. This is what people use once saunagus has turned into a habit rather than an experiment.

A gift card. You choose the amount, it is delivered by email, and it can be spent on sessions, class passes, events and merchandise. We wrote the whole thing up in Saunagus gift card.

Events and training. Collaborations, special formats and gusmester training are priced separately when you book.

What actually changes the price

Less than people expect. The ticket type does most of the work: one visit at a time, or several bought together. After that it is whether you are coming to an ordinary session or to an event, because events sit apart from the normal schedule.

Which format you pick is a separate question. Relaxed Gus, Signature Gus and Energizing Gus are three different formats, not three different prices.

Most people asking the price are not really after a number. They want to know whether it is worth doing once, and whether it turns into a habit. Go once first. If you are standing in the shower afterwards already wondering when the next one is, that is when a klippekort starts making sense.

Questions we get

What does a single session cost?

A single session is 200 DKK right now. That one ticket covers the guided session itself, the gusmester's work with the heat and the scent, and afterwards the showers, the changing rooms with lockers, the chlorine-treated cold plunge and water at the tap. Nothing else to buy on top.

Is there a cheaper way to come often?

Yes. You buy several visits at once and the price per visit drops. Right now a klippekort brings that down to around 140 DKK per visit. The more visits on the card, the lower it goes.

What if I come regularly?

If you come regularly, the klippekort is what people use. The klippekort prices are on the pricing page.

Do events cost the same as a normal session?

Not necessarily. Check the price of each event or training session when you book.

Are there discounts?

Signing up for the newsletter at the bottom of any page gets you a welcome discount on your first session. Beyond that, the current prices are on the pricing page.

Once you know which ticket you want, find a time in the schedule. If it is the ritual rather than the price you are unsure about, What is saunagus? explains what happens in the room.
