Most people looking at our schedule are choosing between three things. Relaxed is three gentle rounds and the easiest place to start. Energizing is three rounds with pace, focused heat and strong scent. Signature sits between them: calm, then a build, then a soft landing.
That is the short answer. The longer one is why the three feel so different, and which one fits the evening you are actually in. There is a three-question quiz further down that will give you a suggestion.
What actually changes between formats
Underneath, every session here is built the same way: three rounds of 10 to 12 minutes, with about 10 minutes outside between them. What changes is what happens inside the rounds.
Pace. In a relaxing round the gusmester moves slowly, the towel work is unhurried, and the heat arrives in wide soft waves. In an energizing round the same towel moves faster and the waves land closer together.
Music. Quiet and low at one end, rhythmic and quick at the other. You notice it in your breathing more than in your ears.
Scent. The same oils, at different strengths. A soft blend keeps you inside your own head. Something sharper, more eucalyptus and citrus, makes the air feel bigger and wakes you up.
The rules do not change with the format. Nobody talks in the room, you shower before and after, and you can step out whenever you need to. The rest of the practical detail is in our FAQ.
Gus is not one fixed thing
Worth knowing before you pick. Finnish has a word for what happens when water hits the hot stones, löyly, and the sauna has been part of everyday life there for centuries. The version with the towel and the rounds was given its shape in German-speaking sauna culture under the name Aufguss, and most gus you meet today still builds on it.
Copenhagen has its own version of that spread. Sauna85 and Plugin were both running regular gus from the summer of 2023, before us, and that scene is a large part of why so many people here know the word at all. Winter-bathing clubs run gus too, usually right next to the cold water. Try a few places. People move between them, and there is plenty to try.
The longer version of that history is in What is saunagus?.

Our three formats, a little closer
Relaxed Gus. Three relaxing rounds, soft music, gentle scent, a grounding room. This is the one we point first-timers at, and the one people book when the week has been a lot.
Signature Gus. Relaxing, energizing, relaxing. It starts calm, lifts in the middle round and settles again at the end, so you get the whole range in one evening.
Energizing Gus. Three energizing rounds. Focused heat, rhythmic towel work, upbeat music and potent aromas. Most people find it the hardest of the three.
The format is not what you pay for. All three are ordinary sessions on the same tickets, and the current numbers live on our pricing page.
Sessions with a different shape
Not every evening on the schedule is one of the three. We run collaborations with brands, clubs and teachers, sometimes in a room that is not ours, with the gus built around whatever the evening is about. They are not a fourth format, and they come and go. They show up on our events page when there is one on.
Questions we get
Which one should I book first?
Relaxed, if you have never done this. It is the gentlest of the three and it is built for a first visit. Take Signature instead if you would rather try the whole range in one go.
Can I leave in the middle of a round?
Yes. Sit lower in the room where it is cooler, or step out and cool down. Nobody minds and nobody is watching.
Is Energizing too much for a beginner?
Most people find it harder than the other two, so it is not where we would start you. If you go anyway, sit low and go at your own pace.
Do the three formats cost the same?
Yes. Three formats, not three prices. See our pricing page for what a single session and a klippekort cost right now.
What do I need to bring?
A towel, a water bottle and swimwear. Everything else about a first visit is in Saunagus for beginners.
